Simply Montréal
Discover Montreal by way of countless fascinating detours through objects found at the McCord. How did our ancestors live? How did they learn to survive the harsh winters? What were their hobbies and pastimes? Why did this city prosper and attract people from around the globe?

In Dawson's footsteps
An activity that relives the captivating early days of Canadian archaeology. Follow the path of the groundbreaking 19th-century geologist William Dawson. Students will have the chance to discover the remains of an Aboriginal village dating from before the arrival of Jacques Cartier, as well as the opportunity to explore the city and visit the Redpath Museum. Exceptional access to the material evidence and places of the past.

The Notman Collection... A Unique Look at Society
With a guest curator, discover the richness of the collection of William Notman, one of the most prolific photographers who worked at the turn of the 19th century. The composite photographs made from glass plate negatives that once belonged to Notman offer an incomparable glimpse into the historical and social evolution of our society. Two hours of discovery and discussion await you. A unique visit for those who are passionate about photography.

This workshop offers a detailed picture of the clothing industry in 19th-century Montreal. Themes studied will shed light on current research and cover multiple subjects, including the influence of European and American fashion, tailored clothing versus ready-to-wear, distribution-houses and retailers, the evolution of fashion marketing, and department stores.
