Description
The McCord has an outstanding collection of finely beaded, sequined and/or fringed short "flapper" evening dresses from the twenties. This beaded, sequined and embroidered model, in tones of mauve and silver, was worn by Mrs. J. L. Todd of Montreal, but was purchased in Paris from the House of Worth. At the time, the rate of exchange in France was favourable for Canadians, so travellers flocked to Paris and for those who could, a Paris gown was a must. However, import duty did exist, and although this dress was from Worth, the label has been carefully removed!
