Description
Before the 1860s, daytime dresses had small bustles, but after 1870, bustles grew bigger and had to be supported by a frame. The dresses of the 1870s were also characterized by short bodices and little basques. The long sleeves of the dresses were often adorned with taffeta cuffs and buttons.
