How did it work?

A stereograph is made of two images, mounted on cardboard. These images are captured by a camera equipped with two lenses and two dark chambers. From one side to the other, the camera provides two slightly different perspectives that correspond, more or less, to the distance between a person’s left and right eyes. Viewed through the lenses of a stereoscope, the two images are processed by the human brain as a single, three-dimensional image.
