Standardbearers of Acadian Identity

Centre d'études acadiennes

Within only a few years of the Great Upheaval of 1755, Acadians are getting more involved in politics. Over the years, their demands change and become more specific. While in the 18th century, they ask for the right to own property and the right to vote, by the mid-19th century, they are demanding better socioeconomic conditions. In 20th century, they finally manage to get a bill passed to protect the rights of the French-speaking minority.
