Maurice-Régis Blondeau fonds (P098)

Administrative History - Biographical Sketch:

Born in Montreal, Maurice-Régis Blondeau (1734-1809) was a prominent North West fur trader. He made alliances with numerous other traders, including Jean-Baptiste Cadot, a fur trader from the Michigan area. One of the founding members of the Beaver Club, Blondeau was also a judge of the peace and a militia officer in Montreal.

Scope and Content:

The Maurice-Régis Blondeau fonds is based on his fur trading activities. The fonds contains an 138-page account book in which Blondeau recorded the credits and debits of his business operations in chronological order, including various transactions involving the trader Jean-Baptiste Cadot.
